"Sir Thomas Lipton.
Sir Thomas Lipton of tea company fame sailed his famous yacht, Shamrock, to the West Coast in 1915. He was a guest participant in the bridge tournaments held that year at the Tennis Club. Upon his return, he sent the handsome sterling silver cup as a token of his pleasure and esteem. (Courtesy College Club.) "
