Club History

From Private Clubs of Seattle:

In 1910, five Yale graduates sat around their boardinghouse in Ballard, picking slivers out of their hands and dreaming of life back east. Thomas Babcock, Ralph Angell, St. Clair Dickinson, Bob Forbes, and Bob Chase had come to Seattle to make their fortunes and got jobs in the timber mills in Ballard. Joined by Walter "Jack" Johnson, a University of Wisconsin graduate, they all moved into a house on Queen Anne Hill and dreamt of an inexpensive and democratic club to serve young men just graduating from college facing the problem of entering business or professions.

College Club Race Report

Congratulations to our G0-Kart Competitors!

The results of our fourth racing event are as follows:

In the Junior Division:

A hotly contested field of young racers put the pedal to the metal for some serious competition. It was a close race with Caroline Petgrave taking first place closely followed by second place finisher Maile Allan with Lindsay Allan taking third place. Also in the running were Anna Petgrave and Emily Petgrave. Danica Patrick look out these girls are fast!

First Adult Division:
It was Bill Hsu who once again took first place. Not only did he win his division he turned in the sixth fastest lap for all racers in the past month; Missing top honors by 2 tenths of a second. Coming in second was vintage stockcar racer Gary Odegard with Mark Gregory taking third place; this was Mark’s first trip to the podium.

Second Adult Division: (No less prestigious than the First Division)
First Place goes to the famous fast and furious Allan Girl’s dad Tom Allan. Tom, being no stranger to the winners circle has placed in each of our events. It’s easy to see where the girls get their skills. Vern Hasz also a previous competitor took second place with Erin McGuire winning a hard fought third place.

Watch for our next racing event and join in, it’s a blast!
